The Reckoning by Within Temptation

 

    Within Temptation is a symphonic metal band from Netherlands. Founded by Vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerhold on April 1996. Their genre mostly classified as gothic metal and symphonic metal. Even though they mostly used symphonic or gothic metal as their genre, their album can influence outside of these genres.

            Their first album is Enter in 1997. They are not very popular until 2001 when they releasing their singles “Ice Queen” in their second album Mother Earth. This Single reaching the no.2 on the Dutch charts. They also win Conamus Exportprijs, a Dutch music awards four years in a row, and fifth in 2016.

            One of my favorite song from Within Temptation is The Reckoning from album RESIST. This Single released on September 14, 2018 featuring guest vocal from Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, and released worldwide via digital download and streaming. This song brings political issue about the lost of freedom in the future.

As cold as stone, they march in darkness

But soon they'll know the path they've chosen

            In this part, the word “they” refers to a group or government that seeks to destroy and seize the rights of people to their own benefit. In the other side, the people fight because they didn’t want to be controlled by them, so they fight for their freedom. In real life, we can see a lot of resistance from people, because the government seize their right or manipulate the rules for their own benefits, the law seems imbalance between the rich and the poor. From this, people make a movement to fight the injustice that they feel. The people will continue their fights until all the problem can be resolved and the justice can be enforced again.

Logical Thinking

    In Logical Thinking, there is an argument such as of cause and effect. In cause and effect the requirement to build this argument are the cause premise and the effect premise. We also need to make sure that our argument can be very convincing by knowing the correlation between the cause and effect, the reverse of cause and effect, and how something can causing something, by knowing those short of thing we can build strong cause and effect argument.  We can also found deductive argument in logical thinking. There are many kinds of it such as, modus ponens, modus tollens, and syllogism. Deductive argument is type of reasoning that if the premises are correct then the conclusion is must be correct, even if we reverse it the premise will keep correct.
